Citizen

Citizen is an American rock band that emerged from the Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio music scene in 2009. Comprising Mat Kerekes (vocals), Nick Hamm (lead guitar), Eric Hamm (bass), Mason Mercer (rhythm guitar), and Ben Russin (drums), the band has been signed to Run for Cover Records throughout their career.

Known for their emotionally charged lyrics and evolving sound, Citizen initially displayed a melodic hardcore style. However, they have continuously experimented and incorporated elements of pop punk, post-hardcore, shoegaze, and post-punk into their music, pushing the boundaries of the emo genre. This willingness to evolve has garnered them critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase who appreciate their emotional depth and musical exploration.
