Trouble The Water Review
On their third record for Loma Vista, New York’s Show Me The Body up the production value, broaden their scope and set their sights on loftier heights than ever before… and yet the finished project is as intense and enveloping a body of work as they’ve ever offered. Low end rumbles your stomach, waves of noise hit like gunshots, vocalist Julian Cashwan Pratt’s words ring clearer and more direct than ever.
While the first half of the record provides a groovier, more muscular rhythm section than has been heard on albums prior, mid-way high light ‘Out of Place’ shifts to more ambient territory, showcasing the bands ear for the textural. Whether it soothes or oppresses, there’s a sonic quality that characterises ‘Trouble the Water’ that plants it firmly in its own league, ensuring this is the only punk album of its kind you're going to hear this year.
