The Special AKA were what formed after The Specials split up and were still considered to be the specials. Racist Friend taken from their album ”In The Studio” is a testament to how good the band was. This is probably my favourite track from the group and carried the legacy of band with a clear message. Fuck racism.
The simple lyrics make its message direct ”If you have a racist friend, now is the time for your friendship to end”. With great instrumental work from the rest of the band, the horn section in this is what really emphasises this song. It’s chilled out and easy listening too so I really recommend this song to anyone.
